NGEP focal areas are tailored to:

Ensure that gas is optimally used as a transition fuel domestically, to industrialize Nigeria
Promote the use of natural gas in-country, as an alternative to PMS and AGO for prime movers
Secure Nigeria’s energy mix in the short, medium and long term.

OBJECTIVE

To reinforce & expand gas supply as well as stimulate demand in the country through the effective & efficient mobilization and utilization of all available assets, resources and infrastructure in the country.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
One of the strategic objectives of the NGEP in the short term is the acceleration of implementation of the four focal priorities of Autogas development, Compressed National Gas penetration, Domestic LPG expansion & Gas Based Industry development across Nigeria. NGEP has worked in partnership with the Nigerian Governors Forum and all the States and Local Government Areas to create sustainable opportunities in the wide gas value chain across Nigeria.

Issued revised regulatory guidelines to support effective implementation of all initiatives and projects under these schemes

Rolled out domestic LNG power project in Nigeria

NGEP Programs

Developed and issued concept notes for implementation of NGEP programs with state government in collaboration with the NGF

Sensitization

Conducted extensive stakeholder Sensitization for increased awareness and adoption of gas as the the go-to fuel in Nigeria

Outlook

Roll out comprehensive autogas schemes to ensure fuel availability and lower transportation costs nationwide

Presidential Launching of Auto-Gas Initiative

President Muhammadu Buhari on Dec. 1, 2020 rolled out the autogas scheme in Abuja as the Federal Government moves to create alternative fuel for automobiles and other prime movers in Nigeria. The autogas scheme is to deepen domestic utilisation of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and create about 12.5 million direct and indirect jobs for Nigerians.
